ISA Workshop Allahabad

Objective

The objective of this workshop is to generate information security awareness among Indian citizens to enable them to participate safely in information society, it is proposed to conduct one day workshops to the various users like children education institutes.

Indian Institute of information technology- Allahabad in association with center for development of advance computing, Hyderabad had conducted a workshop on 6th Sep,2008 for School children. The theme of the workshop was information security education and awareness for targeting school children of class 10th and 12th.

 

The invitations were sent to almost all the renowned schools and colleges like: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya Afs, Army School, Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir, Maharshi Patanjali Vidya Mandir Ganaga Gurukulum, Boy’s High School, Girl’s High School, Bishop Johnson School, St. Josephs High School, St. Mary's Convent High School

 

This is the first workshop in the serious of many of this kind to be organized at Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad but the target audience will be teacher, officials and parents. Overwhelming response has been evidenced with the participation touches to approximately 100 students both boys and girls alongwith teacher from all schools.

 

The program was a big success and Indian institute of information technology-allahabad would be conducting this kind of workshop more in number with different target audience.

The workshop had been a big success in term of topic coverage and participation. Participants were from different public schools, the workshop had cater the need of the all the participant from different perspective like, need of proper use of Internet, Information Security Issues like strong password enforcement, identity theft, cyber crimes like spamming, phishing, social engineering etc. The presentation was very interactive by using lot of video clippings, arranging quizzes and explaining real time stories.

The participants were extremely satisfied and happy this was evidenced from the kind of interaction and enthusiasm which they have showed through various questions and the good response in the quiz session that was also a part of the workshop. A feedback session was also arranged after the end of the workshop and the result were very encouraging and the key observation among those feedback was that they wanted this workshop to be organized frequently with long session.

  • Information Security Awareness Issues Presentation
  • To make aware proper use of Internet

  • Framework development through PowerPoint presentation
  • Quiz on related topics
  • Practical – running of tools.

Batch Strength:
The number of seats for participation was 75 on a first come first serve basis though 88 children participated in the workshop.

Kit consist of Posters, Brochures, Mouse Pad, and CD containing lots of study materials, video clipping and e-books
