One Day Workshop
on
Information Security Awareness
at: MGM English School, Jhirpani, Rourkela

- Around 260 students and teachers from various schools such as MGM English School, Ispat English School, Deepika E. M. School, Desouza’s School, and Saint Mary’s School participated in the workshop.
- The programme started at 10 am with brief introduction to Information Security by Prof. Sanjay Kumar Jena, Coordinator of the workshop.
- Headmistress of MGM English School Mrs. Minati Panda conveyed her gratefulness to CSE department of NIT Rourkela for organizing such activities for various school students and teachers.
- Then Mr. Saroj Kumar Panigrahy, Project Officer, ISEA discussed about the various aspects of information security:
- i.Cyber usage at home and school: General Security, Ethics, Safety, Browser Settings, Instant messaging, Copyrights, Best Practices
- ii.User Credential Protection: Passwords and Social Engineering, Online transaction Security, e-mail Security
- iii.Personal Computer Security: OS Updates, Antivirus settings, Anti spyware, Desktop firewall, Physical Security, Data Backups and storage
- After that a 15 minutes break was there for providing snacks to the participants.
- Then, animation videos regarding safe internet usage, software updation, antivirus software usage were shown to the participants.
- Also cartoon videos were shown regarding how to use internet, online chatting, etc. by taking the help of parents.
- Then, question & answer session was there for clarification of the doubts of the participants.
- Views and opinions about the workshop were given by some of the students and teachers.
- Vote of thanks was given by Mr. S. S. Mahapatro, Teacher of MGM English School.
- Two project associates Mr. Suraj Sharma & Mr. Asish Kumar Dalai helped in the organization of the workshop.
