The workshop on Information Security Awareness, was conducted by DOEACC Centre, Srinagar/Jammu on 03rd December 2009 at Vishwa Bharti Public School, Jammu. The workshop was attended by 108 students of class 10th, 11th and 12th along with their 31 teachers and 2 parents.The workshop was attended by the Principal of the School Mrs. S.Mehta, Dr. O.P.Razdhan Vice President of Vishwa Bharti Women's Welfare Institution, Prof.A.N.Sadhu Secretary Vishwa Bharti Public Higher Secondary School. The key speakers for the workshop were Shri. Rajneesh Raina (TO), Shri S.K.Sharma (TA) and Shri.D.S.Oberoi (Scientist/Engieer D).

The workshop was held in session wise manner and following sessions were held,

1. Introduction to ISEA Project
2. Introduction to Information Security
3. Video Session-3 parts series
4. Detialed session on Threats, Vulnerabilities, Browser, IM, Downloads, Anti-Virus, Firewall and Anti-Virus Updates, Spyware etc.
5. Practical session on Firewall, Antivirusm OS updates, Internet Browser, Passwords
6. Question and Answer Session

During the workshop, students and teachers were made aware of threat to modern information and communication. Speakers of the workshop made students, teachers and parents aware of the threats and individual faces while using internet. The speaker laid the stress on using secured communication and following good internet usage practices.

In the practical session, the team members covered pratical issues related to

1. Anti-Virus signature updating
2. Firewall usage and its configuration
3. Operating system patches and updates
4. How browsers are to be used for safe browsing-history, security etc.
5. Phishing, Spyware
6. Tips for safe downloading etc

The sessions were finally followed by question and answer session, where questions ranged rfom downloading information, firewall and on anti-virus softwares.
